Description:

The strategic hire will be the point person on the Web Development team's content management efforts working directly with editors and journalist to help develop tools that will enable innovative interactive story telling that power which is a highly influential media website.

The ideal candidate will have proven to be a great developer with extensive experience developing Wordpress themes and plugins and have excellent front end development experience but will also be someone who has a passion for news and financial journalism and can effectively communicate and manage expectations. If you are excited by the challenge of working in a fast paced dynamic environment and you have developed and launched enough projects to keep your cool under deadline pressure and you do not walk away form a task until it is done then this is the role for you.


We are only considering applicants that:

  • Possess 5 or more years of experience writing code in PHP and be familiar with XHTML, HTML 5, JavaScript, CSS/CSS3, jQuery and general Web 2.0 techniques

  • At least 2 recent years of experience as a WordPress developer that has built custom Themes, Plugins, and Widgets

  • Are proficient in software engineering best practices and the use of JSON/AJAX/XM techniques

  • Have expertise in building responsive and scalable sites for all platforms

  • Have experience with Common Development tools (Git, etc)

  • Have experience with object oriented analysis/design

  • Are familiar with relational databases, preferably MYSQL and Oracle

  • Understand web services technologies such as SOAP, HTTP, WSDL, XSD, and REST

  • Have prior experience contributing to WordPress, Drupal or similar open source projects

  • Possess at least a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering from an accredited college / university.
